Now
I don't use social media, so a now page seemed like a good idea. It's not my idea, but I do think it's a good one.
As of July 2026, I am:
Listening to Music
I'm obsessed with these songs right now:
Playing Bass
My band does Smashing Pumpkins covers. We get together to practice biweekly. We've some ideas for originals, but we're old and don't have much time.
One of my bandmates is about to publish the first in a four-novella sciFi series, so we're writing an accompanying 6 song EP. I'm stretching my DAW and ambient post-rock legs. It's slow going. Computer is for think, not feel.
Reading Prose
I am reading Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury with kiddo.
I am reading the On The Calculation of Volume series by Solvej Balle.
Reading Non-Fiction
I am reading Nexus by Yuval Noah Harari.
Reading Poetry
I am reading You Better Be Lightning by Andrea Gibson.
Writing Code
I am learning Laravel and Python.
I am building a showcase for code experiments on the dev version of this site. Kiddo is storyboarding some 404 pages for me to build. She's writing a whole backstory for Parolly the robot.
Paying Bills
I am Digital Analytics Technical Lead at an insurance company.
Exercising
I alternate 1hr and 0.5hrs endurance spin classes daily.
My partner and I are working up to running a daily 5k this summer.
We walk about 8km/day.
I do a few hot yoga classes a week now too.
Gardening
I am growing tomatoes in backyard planting boxes. I am not a good gardener, but I do like food.
Cooking
I am learning not to eat like an addict. I live mostly on pineapple, skyr, and salads. I mess with embellishments to keep things interesting. I bake too: bread, fruit loaves, granola bars, cookies, and spiced legumes for salads.
I am learning about Indian, Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese, and Ethiopian cuisines.
Flying
I am working on realizing a childhood dream. Because life, securing a medical certificate is nontrivial. I've completed that process and am waiting for adjudication by Transport Canada.
Meantime, I am working my way through online ground school courses so when the time comes I can fly (ha!) through the theory and focus on applied learning at the controls.
